Hit and Run Sterling police are investigating a hit and run accident that occurred at the intersection of Ave. L and W. 7th street on July 24th at about11:30 p.m. A
vehicle with three occupants was northbound through the intersection when it was broadsided by a vehicle headed west that blew through a stop sign. The westbound vehicle rolled once and came to rest against the residence on the
north west corner of that intersection. The driver fled the scene. The northbound vehicle also came to rest in that yard after two of the three occupants were ejected. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Sterling Police department at 815-632-6640 or tipline @sterling-il.gov. Anyone having
information about this incident or any other crime is asked to call Whiteside County Crimestoppers at 815-625-7867. Callers may recieve a reward of up to $1000.00 and can remain anonymous.
It is believed that the accident may be GANG RELATED and
that the traffic crash could have been purposeful.
